Is it my computer or is LJ offline?
I've spent the morning scanning drawings and doodles onto my computer. It's all at flickr, and probably at my LJ, too. Here's a sample:
I got my copy of the McGee book yesterday, On Food and Cooking. He starts right in with milk which is timely as I gear up to lactate, and also since we are vacationing next week with friends who make cheese from thier own cows up in the alps in Switzerland.
Also reading: The first book of Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, Quicksilver. It was a random find but googling has led me to believe its exactly the kind of science fiction I like: smart, well-written, and not really science fiction at all. I have high hopes.
This is one rotten crappy ass summer.
Right now it's 60°f and raining. With the exception of the two-week heat wave, it's been raining ALL GEEDEE SUMMER. They're forecasting partly cloudy for Thursday and everyone is all excited.
It drizzles and mists and storms and gushes and I am susprised that the Kölners don't have as many words for rain as the Inuits do for snow.
One of the many results of so much effing rain is SLUGS. They are all over everything. Big fat orangey brown slimey slugs, leaving glistening trails all over my windows and terracotta pots, treating my marigolds like the freaking Shoney's salad bar, making the trip out to the end of my yard in the evening to take out my days worth of compost to the heap an excercise in keeping slug guts off of my shoes.
I watched the set-in-Louisiana Love Song For Bobby Long the other night and everytime they were outside sitting around and the cicadas would start in I would get a hormonal surge. It was like a punch in the gut.
OK, I don't know about this Vox, here. I don't want to lose contact with people I have known for four years now only online, but I don't really have the time or energy to keep up two blogs. I have it, it's here, it looks good. But it's just another thing. I guess I could delete the 20 links in my "trashy gossip" file in my favorites list.
Hi! I don't know you, but I saw you posted recently too. LJ us down for me too. They've got... read more
